New London Electric & Water Utility has filed an application with the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) to increase electric rates. The adjustment is necessary to cover increased operation and maintenance expenses that will allow the utility to continue providing reliable and quality service to our customers. Additionally, the utility has asked the Commission to set appropriate rate levels which include raising fixed customer charges. The last electric rate adjustment became effective on October 1, 2015.
The utility is requesting an overall increase of 5.30%, or $796,774. This request is detailed in New London Electric & Water Utilityelectric rate application submitted to the PSCW on July 16, 2020. After review, Commission staff proposed a revised increase in rates of $723,693, or 4.82%. The actual change to individual customers will vary with electricity usage, class of service and the ultimate rates authorized by the Commission. If the application is approved by the PSCW, per staff recommendation, a residential customer using 640 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity per month will see a monthly increase of approximately $2.73, or 3.70%. All information regarding this application is available electronically at the PSCW’s website: http://PSC.WI.GOV.
